Support & Outreach workers wanted.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, legible penmanship

  • Certificate in related human / social service field

  • 1 year related experience or combination education/training/experience

  • Understanding of Canada’s history with Indigenous people and its impact on our families

  • Complete Criminal Record and Prior Contact (MCFD) Search proving ability to work with vulnerable youth and families

  • FoodSafe Certification

  • First Aid / CPR (including CPR C for infants and children)

  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence, own vehicle with 5 million liability insurance, provide a clean Driver’s Abstract

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be physically capable of activities such as walking, hiking, lifting children

  • Ideal candidates would also have non-violent crisis intervention training

Support workers with Growing Up Hope Society strive to put their own bias/ideas to the side and work with families from a strength-based place, while protecting the uniqueness of their healthier family dynamics. We look for the following qualifications:

Outreach and residence support worker responsibilities could include:

  • Managing evening and morning routines, in a supportive, respectful manner

  • Modeling appropriate / professional conduct in home and community interactions

  • Following house protocols for safety, incident reporting

  • Administer medication in accordance with policy

  • Attending appointments, meetings, activities with youth and families

  • Provides emotional support and feedback to youth and/or families in a respectful way

  • Completes related records such as log books, charts, incident reports

  • Light housekeeping, home maintenance duties, and meal preparation 

  • Recognizes aggressive behaviour triggers and is able to deescalate using relationship (or other non-violent crisis intervention strategies)

  • Follow specific behaviour management protocols

  • Ability to work as a team

  • Self-starter with common sense
